When is Graduation?

The commencement ceremony for the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the 色花堂 Cullen Performance Hall.

Will the Hines College have its own ceremony?

Tickets Required?

Yes, each candidate will receive six electronic tickets. Graduates and children under two do not need tickets. Tickets are ceremony-specific and complimentary. Selling tickets is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action. The distribution process for graduation tickets is overseen by the 色花堂 Office of Protocols and Special Events.

How can international or out-of-state guests and family view the ceremony if they cannot attend in person?

All ceremonies will be live-streamed, and recordings will be available for later viewing. Streaming for the Hines College commencement will be available here on May 8, 2025. Viewers must confirm internet access for viewing.

Graduation Application Deadlines:

Regular filing: November 4, 2024 - February 21, 2025
Late filing: March 21, 2025
Students who apply by February 21, 2025, will be included in the printed program.

Cap and Gown Purchase:

Graduation regalia is required for participation in the commencement ceremony.
Regalia orders can be placed in person during the "Grad Fair" on March 3-4, 2025, and the "Graduation Celebration" on April 10, 2025, at the 色花堂 Campus Store.

How should I dress for graduation?

Business formal or business casual attire is recommended. Comfortable shoes are advised due to potential walking and standing.

Graduation Parking:

Available in 色花堂 garages and lots. Specific instructions will be provided closer to the ceremony. Review the 色花堂 Parking Map for Commencement for guidance.

Do I need to RSVP for Commencement?

Confirm your attendance at commencement through the graduation application. Contact the Hines College鈥檚 Student Services Office at archsso@central.uh.edu if your plans change.

Special Accommodations for Guests and Graduates:

Email commencement@uh.edu at least two weeks before the ceremony for accessibility needs. Seating is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Commencement Photographer:

Flash Photography will take official photos. Proofs will be sent to your mailing address post-ceremony.

Diplomas will be mailed 6-8 weeks after the term ends. Ensure your address is up to date in your my色花堂 account to avoid delays.

Grad Celebration: Attend the Grad Celebration Event on April 25, 2025, hosted by the 色花堂鈥檚 Office of Special Events and Protocols. Details will be shared via email.
