Minors in Possession (MIP)
By taking MIP, participants will be able to:
- Recognize their drinking patterns that could lead to alcohol-related incidences.
- Identify a self-protected behavior to incorporate into their lives to reduce alcohol consumption.
- Identify relevant laws relating to purchase, possession, or consumption (during social gatherings or operating a motor vehicle) of alcohol by minors.
Registration Information
- Participants must register at least two days prior to the first day of the course.
- Ensure you have the following information for registration:
- Drivers' license number
- Judge's name
- University representative, if applicable
- Approval from parent or guardian if younger than sixteen years of age
- Pay a non-refundable fee of $40 by check or money order only. No other forms of payment are accepted.
To successfully complete the course, participants must:
- Pass a short test covering course materials.
- Information is kept confidential with the exception of reporting some data to TDLR.
- Complete an individual exit interview within a week of the second class day.
- Most interviews are held after class on the second day, therefore, you should be prepared to stay after class or to schedule another date with your instructor.
