Protecting Our Progress
The University is required by federal and state regulations ( and ) to have a research security program. The research security program is jointly administered by the Office of Research Integrity and Oversight (RIO) and the Office of Contracts and Grants (OCG).
NSPM-33
NSPM-33, or National Security Presidential Memorandum-33, is a policy directive issued by the U.S. government. It aims to safeguard sensitive research and intellectual property in academic institutions from potential threats posed by foreign entities. NSPM-33 establishes guidelines for enhanced security measures, increased transparency in research collaborations, and protection of critical technologies. Compliance with NSPM-33 requires university researchers to adhere to stricter protocols and reporting requirements, ensuring the protection of sensitive research and maintaining national security interests.
