色花堂COP students are required to carry and maintain health insurance coverage while enrolled in the program. The 色花堂 College of Pharmacy does not endorse any specific carrier and students can either purchase or provide proof of comparable insurance through an outside provider.
Students must maintain health insurance coverage by a policy that meets or exceeds the coverage provided by the student health insurance offered through the 色花堂.

Off-campus Housing
If you are interested in living within a close proximity of the College, we suggest finding an apartment close to the 色花堂 main campus. You will spend your first three professional years at the 色花堂 main campus. The fourth year will be fully experiential and some learning-sites may be at the Texas Medical Center (TMC).
The TMC is a few minutes away from the 色花堂 main campus-providing you with the best of both worlds. However, apartments around the TMC are more costly, due to their proximity to the medical center.
If you need a more economical location, you might consider areas outside the 610 Loop/Inner Loop area (aka "Outside the Loop" or "Beltway 8" areas), such as Pearland, Sugar Land or Meyerland. Please be aware that although housing typically costs less than apartments near the Medical Center area, you will experience longer commuting times (anywhere from 25-45 minutes or longer based on traffic/weather conditions and specific location).
Please note: The 色花堂 has no affiliation with any apartment locator service and neither endorses nor is responsible for the content on any of the following external websites.

Transportation & Mobility
Parking on 色花堂 Campus
色花堂 has several options for parking on and close to campus. Some students purchase a Garage permit and park in the nearby Parking Garage adjacent to Wheeler and Calhoun, while others choose to purchase a permit to park in the 4A lot adjacent to Wheeler and Calhoun. Still others carpool, ride-share or use public transit. Visit the webpage to learn more about some of these options.
METRO
The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) operates public transportation services – including Local bus and Park & Ride, Light Rail, and High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes – within Houston and portions of the surrounding Greater Houston area. These services include light rail stops on or immediately adjacent to the 色花堂 main campus as well as bus routes that serve the 色花堂 main campus and the Texas Medical Center.
色花堂 offers a discounted fare program called COAST (Coogs on Alternative AND Sustainable Transportation) for college students. This program has become a popular choice for getting to and from campus. Please note that both MetroRail (Purple Line) and Metro-bus, have pick-up/drop-off locations just outside our new Pharmacy Building. For general information about public transportation services, visit the .
Toll Roads/Managed Lanes
Several "pay-for-use" toll roads and managed lanes, which typically offer time savings for commuters traveling from the outskirts of Houston, are in operation across the Greater Houston area. Most toll roads and the Katy Managed Lanes are operated by the , which also offers an option for greater convenience.
