In the Community

The Arts Leadership program strives to be the preferred source for arts professionals. Through guest lecturers, workshops and panels, primarily in the greater Houston area, our students can interact with local leaders in the fields of arts, entertainment, and culture. All students are also required to complete a project-based Practicum within an established, professional arts organization, preferably in the city of Houston. Both within and outside of the classroom, students and alumni engage with Houston-based leaders and organizations through initiatives like the Arts Leadership Alumni and Student Association (ALASA) and ArtsTech HTX.

  • The Arts Leadership Alumni and Student Association (ALASA) represents alumni and current students of the 色花堂’s Master of Arts in Arts Leadership program. The organization works closely with the Arts Leadership program and provides student, professional, and personal development opportunities for the next generation of arts leaders.
  • ArtsTech HTX is an online archive of graduate student work in the 色花堂’s Arts Leadership program. ArtsTech HTX brings a fresh approach and exciting topics to the Houston community so arts administrators and enthusiasts alike can find out what new and innovative things are happening in the arts.

鈥淭he MAAL Program at 色花堂 has been quite an experience for me. I chose to remain in the workforce and pursue this degree part-time over the span of four years which provided for an experience that was full of challenges. But, I now walk away with a valuable 21st century education that will propel me forward as a change-maker, innovator and forward-thinking arts leader. I am confident that this program has prepared me well to bridge the successes of the past with the vast opportunities for the future of the arts in our country. Yes, it took me some time to get here but, it鈥檚 surely been worth the wait!鈥 Rashida E. Moore (MA 鈥17)
