The É«»¨ÌÃVPN is a Split tunnel VPN service. Split tunneling means the user who is connected to vpn.uh.edu can access their local network, i.e. home devices directly or locally and the internet i.e. local printer(s), IoT devices, webpages, Microsoft 365 (One Drive, MS Teams, Outlook) through their internet connection LAN or WAN at the same time.

Allowing only É«»¨Ìà resource traffic to go through the split tunnel to get to network shared folders, remote desktop to É«»¨Ìà located machines and É«»¨Ìà enterprise server backend services.

All É«»¨Ìà web resources are accessible without vpn. Test what resources you can access without having to use vpn. Then try vpn to get to those resources you cannot access without vpn. Recommend you access what you need and disconnect if that is possible for your job function. Otherwise continue to stay connected.

FULL-VPN.É«»¨ÌÃ.EDU

The Full-VPN is a tunnel to the campus and all your traffic is routed back to campus and then out to the internet. This allows access to resources that can only be accessed from an on-campus machine.

All É«»¨Ìà web resources, Microsoft 365 (One Drive, MS Teams, Outlook) are accessible without vpn. Test what resources you can access without having to use vpn. Then try the full-vpn to get to those resources you cannot access without vpn. If you have completed the task or function you can disconnect the vpn. When you disconnect you may see some temporary disconnect and connect. Just make sure you are not in the middle of something important before disconnecting.
