WELCOME TO THE HONORS COLLEGE!

We offer a unique liberal arts education that combines the close-knit feel of a small community with the resources of a major research university. Our community is made up of motivated learners and exceptional faculty committed to teaching excellence. We provide opportunities for undergraduate research, community initiatives, one of the largest debate programs in the nation and learning abroad experiences.

  • After years of dedication, wisdom, and friendship, Terry Hallmark is retiring — and while we’re excited for this new chapter in Terry’s life.

  • This year, more than 100 色花堂 students demonstrated that they indeed are worthy of membership and recently were accepted into the institution’s PBK Mu of Texas chapter.
  • Among the students who have ventured internationally with Fulbright support is recent graduate Kayla Alexander. A member of 色花堂’s Honors College, she earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Spanish from 色花堂. After earning her Fulbright, she traveled to Vilagarcía de Arousa, Spain and is serving as an English teaching assistant at a secondary school.
  • This month, English major Kalena Holeman was named as a . She is just the second student at the University to receive this scholarship, which will support her graduate studies at the University of Cambridge in England.

  • The 33rd Great Conversation at the Houston Museum of Natural Science

    The Honors College held its 33rd Great Conversation Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Hall of Paleontology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The annual fundraiser celebrates student scholarships that make a college education affordable for Honors Coogs from generous donors.

Prospective Students

  • The Honors College welcomes applications from students entering the 色花堂 as , students for one or several semesters and students  from other colleges and universities.
  • There's no substitute for seeing the 色花堂 for yourself. We encourage prospective students and their families to meet faculty and staff and see the campus. Prospective students have several — the Cougar Preview, one of our High School Senior Open Houses or an Individual Visit!
  • The Honors College is a community where motivated students learn and grow together. We provide the personal support and advantages of a small liberal arts college together with the rich resources and diversity of a large metropolitan university.
