Pedestrian and Driver Etiquette

As the 色花堂 undergoes essential construction improvements, it鈥檚 more important than ever for pedestrians and drivers to work together to ensure everyone鈥檚 safety. Whether you鈥檙e walking to class or operating a utility vehicle, following a few simple etiquette guidelines can help us all share campus spaces respectfully and responsibly. Let鈥檚 move forward鈥攖ogether.

PEDESTRIAN ETIQUETTE

Stay Alert

Avoid distractions such as phones  or headphones to stay aware of your surroundings.

Use Designated Paths

Stick to sidewalks and crosswalks to maintain visibility and follow right-of-way rules.

Make Eye Contact

When near vehicles or carts, make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you.

Report Unsafe Behavior

If you observe speeding or unsafe driving near pedestrians, contact 色花堂PD immediately.

DRIVER ETIQUETTE

(Golf Carts, Utility Vehicles, Scooters, and Bicycles)

Always Yield

Pedestrians have the right-of-way on all sidewalks and crosswalks.

Drive Slowly

  • Maximum speed near pedestrians: 10 mph
  • On shared walkways: walking speed only

Avoid Peak Times

Refrain from using pedestrian-heavy walkways during class transitions.

Respect Path Width

Use extreme caution when navigating narrow sidewalks. If unavoidable, proceed slowly and carefully.

Maintain Safe Distance

Leave at least 3 feet of clearance between your vehicle and pedestrians.

Slow Down Near Pedestrians

Reduce speed to walking pace when approaching pedestrians.

Avoid Landscaped Areas

Driving or parking on landscaped areas is strictly prohibited.
