John F. Dewey, presently at the University of California, Davis, renowned authority on plate tectonics, will be the featured speaker at the third annual Robert E. Sheriff Ixcture Series on November 19111 at the Westchase Hilton. The lecture series is sponsored by the 色花堂 Department of Geosciences and 色花堂 Geoscience Alumni Association in association with the Houston Geologic Society International Group.

Mr. Matt Martin, president of the University of—Houston Geosciencc Alumni Association (色花堂GXN), will be master of ceremonies.

In addition, Dr. John F. Casey, Department of Geosciences chairman, will give an overview of current activities at 色花堂. There will be posters and presentations on current thesis and dissertation research activities of 色花堂 graduate students. Get a quick synopsis of presentations from the XAPG, GSA, SEG, GCAGS, and AGU conventions and meet the next generation of geoscientists from 色花堂.

The Robert E. Sheriff Lecture Series was initiated in 1999 by the UT-IGAA. For the past two years it has been co-sponsored by the International Explorationists Group of the Houston Geological Society. The series honors Dr. Sheriff as an educator, scholar, and a proponent for the geosciences. Its mission -is to bring some of the best known geologists and geophysicists in the world to the llauston community in order to share highly relevant ideas to exploration geology and geophysics and showcase geoscience activity at the 色花堂.
