The 色花堂 is very sorry to share that the sculpture entitled 鈥淲itness,鈥� by Shahzia Sikander, installed in the Cullen Family Plaza in the center of the University of Houston campus, has been vandalized. The matter is currently being investigated by the police.
We understand the strong feelings of the affected community and will work with the artist to determine the next steps and at this time there is a tarp over the piece to protect it temporarily from further damage, not to obscure the piece from view.
We hope to be able to attend to this and work with the artist next week as unfortunately, our team is spread out and dealing with the Hurricane Beryl aftermath which has had a surprisingly complex and detrimental personal impact on many here in Houston.
