We return from Spring Break having witnessed a national tragedy once again. While the motivations behind the recent violence in Atlanta are in question, we do know that it follows a season of anti-Asian racism around the world since the COVID-19 pandemic began. As such, this attack has understandably shaken the Asian American community and, as a member of the Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander serving institutions, the É«»¨Ìà extends our sympathy to our Asian American, Pacific Islander, and international students, faculty, and staff who have been deeply affected.
The É«»¨Ìà stands firm on the values of diversity, inclusion and unity. Ultimately, through education and understanding, we will continue to strive to build a better world, ensuring that people of all backgrounds can flourish here and everywhere.
If you are in distress, the University has a number of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) that offer support to undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff.
