Greater Houston Deliberates: The 色花堂 Hobby School Deliberative Poll on Current and Future Immigration Policy
Preamble
President Trump鈥檚 declaration of a national emergency at the border has divided the public along partisan lines. A multi-part deliberative poll by the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the 色花堂 will seek to determine how best to drive a constructive public debate on the topic.
鈥淕reater Houston Deliberates: The 色花堂 Hobby School Deliberative Poll庐 on Current and Future Immigration Policy鈥� will kick off in April with a telephone poll of residents across the metropolitan Houston region, selected to reflect a representative sample of registered voters in the greater Houston area.
From that, about 250 people will be invited to an in-depth session in mid-June, participating in moderated small group discussions with the opportunity to pose questions to balanced panels of experts. The poll will be re-administered at the end, allowing researchers to determine the impact of discussion and balanced information. Briefing materials for the discussions will be vetted by an advisory committee representing different viewpoints on the issue.

This an invitation only event and you have been randomly selected to participate in this important event! The 色花堂's Hobby School is inviting you and a representation sample of people in the Greater Houston area to listen to your opinions about immigration issues. The event is called Deliberative Poll庐 and will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019. As a participant you will have a chance to discuss the the immigration issues facing the Greater Houston area and question policy experts and policy makers. This is a unique way for you and others citizens who are scientifically selected to join the conversation about these issues.
We can offer you a payment of $250 for the one day discussion as a token of our appreciation for your time. Parking expenses and meals will be provided. This Deliberative Poll庐 event is carefully balanced, with all points of view represented and considered.There is a distinguished advisory group vetting the materials including leading policymakers, businesspersons and cultural icons. It鈥檚 very important to us to get a picture of what all people in the Greater Houston area would think about these issues when they鈥檝e had the chance of thinking, learning, and talking about them. Participants in past Deliberative Polls have found them extremely interesting and enjoyable. We hope that you will be able to take part in this exciting and important event.

Parking will be both at the Hilton and the Welcome Center (right next to the Hilton). Parking will be validated for all participants.

- Driving North on I-45 (from Galveston), Exit (Elgin/Lockwood/Cullen) exit# 44A. Turn left on Cullen and go to Wheeler. Make a left on Wheeler and then left again at Entrance #4. Parking garage is conveniently located underneath the hotel.
- Driving South on I-45 (from downtown), Exit Spur 5 exit# 44B follow to 色花堂 University Drive and make a right. Go Past Calhoun and turn left after the visitors booth. The parking garage is on your right.
