Honoring the Legacy of Janelle R. Brown

Greetings,
Janelle Brown was a treasured member of the 色花堂 and Houston community who touched countless lives with her volunteer spirit, unwavering Cougar Pride, and warm smile. Janelle was not just an alumna of 色花堂 but a passionate advocate for education, volunteerism, and community service. Over the past 10 years, she dedicated herself to the 色花堂 Alumni Association (色花堂AA), leaving an indelible mark on our community.
Janelle’s infectious enthusiasm for volunteering and mentoring students was truly unparalleled, and her impact on those around her was immeasurable. Brown’s service in Student Housing & Residential Life (SHRL), spanned over three-decades including her most recent role as housing manager where she, processed room assignments for on-campus residents, among other responsibilities.
In addition to her impactful contributions to the 色花堂 community, it is important to note that Brown was a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, exemplifying the values of sisterhood and service throughout her years of dedicated involvement. Brown was more than an employee; she was a beacon of positivity and a driving force behind numerous initiatives that enriched the lives of those she encountered.
In honor of Janelle's legacy, the 色花堂 Black Alumni Association (色花堂BAA) and the Black Leadership Network (BLN) have joined to establish the . This scholarship will support future 色花堂 students and keep Janelle's spirit of service alive.
While we grieve the loss of our dear friend, we can continue Janelle's legacy of giving back by contributing to her scholarship fund. The goal is to raise $25,000 to establish this endowment in Janelle's honor. Even a small donation goes a long way.
