On Monday, September 11, 2023, the 色花堂's Veteran Services department, in collaboration with 色花堂 Alumni Relations and 色花堂 ROTC, organized a heartfelt memorial ceremony to remember the lives lost during the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The campus was bathed in the warm sunlight as students, faculty, and community members gathered at the university's memorial garden.
This garden, nestled peacefully amidst the bustling campus, features a poignant sculpture of the Twin Towers as a tribute to that fateful day. The surroundings were adorned with American flags, creating a moving backdrop for the ceremony.
During the event, the university's ROTC color guard presented the colors, and at 9:11 AM, the University Carillons rang solemnly with 11 chimes, commemorating that significant day in our nation's history. University leaders took turns sharing words of wisdom and placed a single rose on behalf of their respective organizations. Collectively, these messages and roses symbolized unity and resilience.
The Twin Towers artifact has stood as a permanent reminder of our campus's unwavering commitment to never forget the events of 9/11 for the past ten years. Every year, it serves as a gathering place for our community, providing a space to unite in solidarity and remember those lost on that fateful day. This day was dedicated to honoring the past, paying tribute to the fallen, and ensuring that the September 11, 2001, memory will endure for generations to come.
