Amanda Vredenburgh is a scholar of contemporary French and Francophone Studies. She received her PhD from Indiana University-Bloomington and MA from NYU. Her research focuses on the fantastic genre, ecocriticism, and postcolonial studies. Amanda鈥檚 monograph The Contemporary Fantastic: Reimagining Reality in French Fiction (Lexington Books, 2024) rethinks the fantastic genre through its examination of environmental, political, and social issues in the novels of Marie Darrieussecq, Marie NDiaye, and Antoine Volodine. Her work on cinema includes the forthcoming article 鈥淭he Specular Experience of Migration in Mati Diop鈥檚 Atlantique鈥 (French Forum).
