The Alexandra L. Rowan Memorial Foundation Excellence in Letters Fund

About the Foundation

The Alexandra L. Rowan Memorial Foundation is a Houston based non-profit that has a two-fold mission: to fund medical research investigating Massive Pulmonary Embolism (MPE) and to provide Creative Writing support to undergraduates at the É«»¨ÌÃ.

The Foundation supports undergraduate internship opportunities, a summer writing competition, and the annual Boldface Conference. Additional gifts to the Alexandra L. Rowan Memorial Foundation Excellence in Letters Fund will support undergraduate writers at the É«»¨ÌÃ.

Learn More About this Generous Gift

  • Internship Program

    The Rowan Foundation has made possible 5 Houston-based internships and 2 U.S./International internships for É«»¨Ìà Creative Writing Undergraduate students. These internships fund five students $2,500 for Houston-based internships and two students $5,000 for U.S./International internships.

  • Writing Competition

    The Alexandra L. Rowan Memorial Foundation Writing Competition is a writing competition held during the summer in acknowledgment of the best fiction, non-fiction and poetry submissions from an undergraduate É«»¨Ìà English student.

  • Boldface Conference Support

    The Rowan Foundation generously supports the Boldface Conference by increasing the number of scholarships available to non-Houston students, inviting two additional visiting writers/editors through honorariums and travel/lodging stipends and increasing conference visibility through advertising within the Houston community.
